The History of Osbon®
It was Mr Geddings Osbon, who designed the product for his own use, after experiencing erectile dysfunction at the age of 60. He was a mechanically minded southern gent, who owned his own tyre business for most of his life. He had developed some innovative vacuum devices used in re-treading tyres, and applied this knowledge and invented a solution for his ED with a section of tubing, some elastic rings, and a vacuum. Remarkably this solved the problem for him. He used this version for many years. His Son, Julian Osbon has been quoted as saying that his father’s “genius was being able to simplify things”. Julian encouraged his father to further develop the product and they marketed the “youth equivalent device”, with a partnered company, Nu-Potent Inc, in Augusta Georgia in 1974. They struggled with community perceptions at the time and received some criticism, until finally gaining FDA approval in 1982. By 1991 the Osbon® ErecAid® System was the leading prescribed treatment for ED. The Osbon® and ErecAid® names have been trademarked internationally for decades and the products are sold worldwide.
